About the Program and Its Importance

This course includes an overview of sizing and selecting the proper equipment, Installation considerations, charging methods and air flow. Upon completion of the class, attendees will have a better understanding of the principles of installing residential central air-conditioners to operate as designed, and to meet utility requirements for installation.

Learning Objectives include instruction on:

  • Manuals J, S and D
  • Principles of heat transfer
  • Terminology for calculating heating and cooling loads
  • Locating equipment
  • The refrigeration cycle, explaining Superheat and Subcooling
  • Duct system types and calculating requirements
  • Air flow
  • Diagnostics and the proper use of tools to accomplish this


This program has been submitted for approval for 6.0 hours of NATE credit.


About the Instructor

Jack Rise, CMS, of Jack Rise HVAC Technical Training, is a Certificate Member Specialist of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He has extensive industry experience having worked as a contractor for 18 years, as a distributor of HVAC products for 13 years, and for a major HVAC manufacturer for 5 years.

Jack is an ACCA/EPIC certified instructor for all of the ACCA residential and commercial design manuals and travels extensively around the country conducting seminars on residential and commercial load calculations, system design and on the use of HVAC computer-based software. He was an RSES instructor for 10 years, currently runs training sessions for NATE and EPA/CFC Section 608 Certifications and ACCA/ANSI Standard 5 (HVAC Quality Installation Standard).
